Children of Edward Minto (b 1833 Swallwell - d 1895 Houghton le Spring) and Mary Ann Weir (we have no idea yet where she came from or when she died - just seems to disappear from records. On the one census I've found her on they give her placeo f birth as Scotland - but then they give the same for her husband and give their surname as 'Wair Mints' - census agent possibly having a bad day...):

Jane Weir Minto b 1858, Houghton le Spring Annie Weir Minto b 14 August 1849, East Boldon Elizabeth Weir Minto b 1861, South Shields Charlotte Weir Minto b 1863, East Boldon John Thomas Weir Minto b 1865, East Boldon

Annie Weir Minto married William Young Blenkinsop (8 Sept 1859 - 1 Jan 1890) - brother of John Blenkinsop who married Charlotte.

They had 4 children:

Arthur Blenkinsop b 1884, Newbottle Elizabeth Julia Blenkinsop b1886, Newbottle John Edward Blenkinsop b 23 March 1888, Newbottle William Young Blenkinsop b 1890

After William died, Annie married Stephen Lamb and had 2 more children:

Stephen Lamb b 1899, Houghton le Spring (apparently known as Ciggy because he smoked a lot...) Annie Lamb b 1901, Chilton Moor

John Edward Blenkinsop (d 16 Nov 1972, Houghton le Spring) married Ellen Hancock (2 June 1887, Leamside - 24 Sept 1966, Hetton le Hole) in 1911 and they were my grandparents. Just found out recently that Nana and Grandpa and family were goingto emigrate to Australia with Grandpa’s best friend’s family - Billy Watson, and his wife and children. Apparently you had to have a sponsor living in Australia to emigrate there and Grandpa’s cousin sponsored him (that must have been Lily)but Bi lly Watson couldn’t find a sponsor so they abandoned the idea because they didn't want to go without Billy Watson’s family.

Hm, dull and wet in Edinburgh today...
