MA MIA CREEKL. [rFOM OUR OWN OOREPFONDO?NT.) I Since my lost communication there have been various improvements in this distriet--ic., new'build. ings, fencing, alterations in schools, &c. The weather for the lest two weeks has been dull and showery, but it cleared up with a hailstorm on Thursday last; some of the hailslones were as large as good-sined pigeoe's eggs. The farmers ore kept busy now with their ploughs and secariflers in their endearours to keep tihe weeds in check.. I called at a neighbour'a (Mr. F, Ponty) the other day, and was shown some now potatoes as large as hen egos. From what I Ihave seen of thle potato crop this season, I believe the farmers will have splendid returns. We tlorave a provisional school eroeted at our own expense. It is 24rt. by l2ft., with a skillion attabched, divided into two rooms, as secommodationn'for ithe teacher. The building is a substantial one, with a shingle roof and boarded floor, all of hardwood. The Minister for lstiruelion has hbeen pleased to appoint Mr. J. A. Them, late of Laidley, as teacher of the school, and I feel sure that gentleman will do hIis duty to the satisfaction of bothl parents and children. We Ihavre yet another drawback-that is the want of a postofilo?. We Ihave petitioled twice to geta post-ofilee established here. The last petition was presented by a gentlemantt from our locality-to Mr. P. O'Sullivan, our senior member, and we sincerely hope that our request will be granted by the Hon. the Poasmaster. General, as a postlolco is badly needed in in our dietrict. October 25.
