Thomas Charles McKenzie was the son of Roderick McKenzie and Jane (Nee) McKenzie of Winni- peg, Manitoba, Canada, Roderick McKenzie was a Factor for the Hudson's Bay Company. Thomas Charles was born at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on 22-01-1861. He arrived at Sydney Australia in 1880. Thomas McKenzie arrived at Jondaryan station on the 26-01-1896, where he was employed as a general hand at 20/- per week and then as a farm hand at 25/- per week. He continued to work on the station in that capacity up until at least 31-12-1907. There is a gap in the station records at that point and it is not known how much longer he worked on the station, if he continued to work on the station, but it is likely that he continued to work on the station until he left Jondaryan. While on Jondaryan station Thomas Charles met Edith Wilhelmine Miers, the daughter of James Miers and Elizabeth (Nee) Morris. At that time Edith was living with her mother in Jondaryan town- ship. Thomas and Edith decided to get married and were married in the Herries street Methodist Church in Toowoomba on the 11-04-1902. The newly married couple then lived with Edith's mother in her cottage in Jondaryan until at least 1910 and may have continued to stay there until they left Jondaryan to go and live at Glengate Was this a farm owned by thomas??. Thomas and Edith had two sons, Charles Peter Ronald, born 1904 and Kenneth James Francis, born 1906. Both children were born at Jondaryan. Thomas Charles then moved with his family to Mackay, where he purchased a farm at Habana on the outskirts of Mackay, calling the farm 'La Cloche'. He continued to live on the farm until his death on 10-06-1929, and is buried in the Mackay cemetery. Edith died on the farm on the 10-02-1954 and is buried in the family plot beside her husband. Charles Peter Ronald had ten children, all born at Mac- kay. One of those children Mervyn Ronald Mackenzie lives at 25 Utah Avenue, SARINA, Queensland, Australia 4737. I have some further information on the ancestry of Thomas Charles McKenzie, if your are interested.
